SEDONA, Arizona — nicknamed the “Land of Awes” because of its Awesome Red Rock formations on a magical and mystical retreat in this part of the State!

Since the dawn of time, travelers have ventured to this part of the Southwest. Whether they came in search of adventure or spiritual fulfillment, one thing is certain–this land changed their lives forever. This mystical journey takes you to the stunning Red Rock Canyons of Sedona and its famous power spots, as well as to the magnificent Grand Canyon.

Highlight will be an opportunity to work with the people of the Navajo and Hopi Nations on a Navajo Reservation, located a few hours north of Sedona. The Community Service program will be in cooperation with the Inscription House Health Center. On your journey, you will step back in time and see how the ancient ones embraced diversity along with their relationship to the land as their mother. The Navajo, or Diné believe they are an extension of Mother Earth and thus are also a part of her beauty. Because of this belief, the Diné treat the land with the utmost respect. Today, the Navajo are striving to sustain a viable economy for an ever-increasing population. And while there is a great focus on retaining and passing on the cultural legacy, there is also a need for community service assistance to continue this most important part of American life. During your stay, you will be working with both of the Tribe’s lower income and Senior citizens who live on the Reservation.

 TOUR ITINERARY

 Day 1. Thursday: To Page/ Tuba City – Navajo Country (D)

Depart via your connecting flights to Page, Arizona. Upon arrival, we board our coach and head for Tuba City in Navajo country. Upon arrival, we check into our hotel and relax before dinner at our hotel. Overnight in Tuba City

Day 2, Friday: In Navajo Country (B/L/D)

After breakfast we continue our program Navajo & Hopi Community Service program. Return to the hotel for free time and dinner. Overnight and dinner in Tuba City

Day 3, Saturday: In Navajo Country (B/L/D)

After breakfast we continue our program Navajo & Hopi Community Service program. Return to the hotel for free time and dinner. Overnight and dinner in Tuba City.

Day 4, Sunday: To Grand Canyon and Sedona (B/L/D)

An early departure this tour starts with a scenic drive to the park on the east side with stops at several of the best canyon viewpoints, along with a short visit to the ancient Anasazi ruins of Tusayan. The afternoon we enjoy a one-way 1¾ -mile rim walk as well as a short walk to see fossils of a 230 million year old tropical coral reef. Along the way we take out spotting scopes and binoculars to spot the extremely endangered California Condors that frequent this part of the canyon. Lunch is served either along the rim of the canyon or at the Anasazi ruins depending on the time. Highlights of our historic and educational tour will be:

• The most spectacular viewpoints along the South & East Rims
• Lunch at the rim – overlooking the canyon
• A visit to ancient Anasazi ruins
• Spotting for the rare and endangered California Condors
• The San Francisco Volcanic Field
• The Little Colorado River Gorge
• The Painted Desert
• Fossils walk
• The historic Cameron Trading Post on the Navajo Indian Reservation

Later, we continue to Sedona for a special Cowboy/Cowgirl cookout. Overnight in Sedona.

Day 5. Monday: Depart Phoenix (B)

Transfer to the airport for your flight back home. Arrive same day.

Beautiful Native American murals and historic pictures line the hotel’s interior corridors. Additionally, an authentic Hogan (Navajo Home) is located site. Here you will experience southwestern comfort in a friendly warm environment.
